this is a summary from the meeting of 16 jan 2004

Tech group.

  • lists
    • kill imc-sfa-community.
    • start imc-sfa-servers
    • open list / open archives.
  • cvs access policy
    • proposed access on imc-sf-active. ok if no one blocks.
    • cvs-committers need to subscribe imc-sf-active & imc-sf-coders
    • need to know the code-goals & stick to it.
  • bugs.sfimc.net
    • is cleaned-up now.
    • anyone can get access / coders get a higher livel / some admins.
    • create a guest / guest account.
    • display years (is less confusing if bugs stay long)

II Site Upgrades

  • Stray
    • Palestina
      • lack of translation would break the site
      • dubai people can do the translations soon.
    • Other sites
      • find out which site runs what
      • upgrade them all to latest stable releaxse
    • try to do upgrades with local tech people.
    • use the StrayInfo wiki page to keep track.
  • Ahimsa
    • stays at current cvs until it's know to break things.

III Code Development.

  • - New Tag
    • tag again (0.9.2)
    • updating changelog.
    • after tag: security audit. & then tag again. (0.9.4)
    • 0.9.5 -> 1.0 will be for testing and debugging.
  • New Code
    • Static Sites
      • should be a goal for i18n.
      • is really huge change. develop seperate from meeting.
    • language support
      • tag all articles and features with a language indicator
      • should be done in close relationship with 'static site'
      • should improve multilanguage support
      • would make it possible to add a translation interface
      • should have seperate syndication feeds
    • upgrade newswire.rss
      • like features_long.rdf
    • ical
      • quinten will do it.
      • 80% finished.
    • admin
      • Implement a user_role table to assign permissions ("roles") to users.
      • a 2-column table, user_id and role_id, Each user may be assigned any number of roles.
      • a role_id maybe a number, indicating write-access to a particular feature category, or a letter indicating write access to sections of the admin system (articles, all features, file editor, etc.)
      • Will test fully and check-in all at once in as soon as a month or so.
    • other issues should be brought on in the list.
  • We'll set a roadmap for each tag.

sorry for not being present
and after all in this period i am not able to do anything on the code.
for sure static site, multilanguage, a security audit is crucial.

i think two other issues need to be solutioned soon:
the first is database and query optimization that espe said he would do, but need a db/query expert
the second is understanding why sf-active is taking up so much load on ahimsa because ahimsa is a critical-traffic test situation and can help us test and solve problem so that the software works both in low traffic situation and in high traffic situation

another thing would be making it even simpler templatization and graphic personalization (like all other cms do :) and the fucking thumbnailing system :)))

unfortunately i cannot work on any of these things in this period
but i will try to be at least in the irc channel often
