SF-Active Documentation Overview
by PseudoPunk Wednesday, Jul. 09, 2003 at 4:18 PM

an overview of the current documentation resources we have for sf-active.

SF-ACTIVE DOCUMENTATION OVERVIEW

I OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION

- The official documentation is in cvs. It's nightly updated into http://sfactive.indymedia.org/docs/
- The layout is good.
- Most important: it seems to have about any section we'll actually need.
- Disadvantage: quite some sections are empty. quite some other things are outdated.

- URL: http://sfactive.indymedia.org/docs/

II BLICERO'S MANUAL

- It's quite extensive. There are sections about users, admin, tech and direct participation tools.
- Important: it's allready translated, at least into English (mostly) and dutch. this is important because I think we need the offical docu in all the languages the software is translated to.
- I translated it, so I know what's in it. I find it actually quite good.
- Disadvantage: people complain the admin section is too complicated to learn it with the manual only.

- URL'S:
Italian - English - Dutch

III TWIKI SOURCES

a) ender.indymedia.org

- There's an sf-active section on ender.indymedia.org
- I didn't read it all, but there's at least info on how the software works (probably outdated) and info on how to migrate from active

- URL: http://ender.indymedia.org/twiki/bin/view/Tech/SFActive

b) docs.indymedia.org

- there are some pages in the devel section.
- there are some things in italy twiki

- URL's
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Devel/ActiveSf - http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ItalyImcTutorial

IV MIGRATION SCRIPTS DOCUMENTATION

a) sfactivate.pl

- the canadian imc's wrote a tool to convert an active webcast table to an sf-active webcast table.
- there are knownbugs, but blicero should have a better version. there's a melbourne patch too.
- they have some docu on it.

URL: http://ender.indymedia.org/twiki/bin/view/Tech/SFActiveSlurp

b) features.cgi conversion

- there should be 2 scripts (at least). one by blicero and one by zapata & pseudopunk.
- There is some docu on Zapata's script.
